New improved website and great new features – coming soon!

Why are we changing our branding?

Our new logo will soon be introduced on the website

Our new logo will soon be introduced on the website

TheGivingMachine was founded in 2006  by four Dads who wanted to give something back to their communities. TheGivingMachine brings together shoppers, retailers and charitable organisations and delivers a positive social outcome for all involved:

  •  Charitable organisations from schools, community groups to any UK based international charity all get access to a new source of funds, without compromising existing activities.
  • Retailers get new customers and see referral commissions going to good causes chosen by their customers,  increasing brand loyalty and their sustainability objectives.
  • Shoppers or ‘Givers’ by shopping online via TheGivingMachine are able to donate to any cause they choose at no additional cost.

We felt this simple mechanism needed a simplified, unique brand that worked  effectively across online and print mediums as well as small formats as we continue to significantly accelerate our giving plans. Read more

13th September is Social Saturday!

The 13th September is the UK’s first Social Saturday, a national day to celebrate and buy from social enterprises.

Social enterprises are businesses that trade for people and planet.

In the UK, there are more than 70,000 social enterprises, TheGivingMachine being one.

Every purchase we make has an impact on the world we live in.  When you make a purchase with a retailer via TheGivingMachine, your spending goes much further, making a difference to the things you care about.

TheGivingMachine is helping retailers be more socially aware by turning the commission we receive from them into donations to support our givers chosen schools or charities.

So remember, if you are going to make a purchase on Saturday 13th September, to buy social!

3 Great Charities – only 1 can win – which one?

The great Dementia Adventure is our current featured beneficiary receiving all the lovely windfall donations* you create.  It is now time to give another fab charity a chance to boost their free donations and we’ve got 3 to choose from.  All 3 charities do great work with children (see below) which might make the choice difficult. Which one do you think should be the featured beneficiary? Simply make your choice and leave a comment stating which one you choose – or come and visit us on our Facebook page and place your vote there.

T&C’s: There is only 1 vote per person with competition closing on Sunday 24th August at 9pm. (All votes placed after this time will not count.) As it’s such a simple competition we’re sure you won’t mind asking your family and friends to place their votes on Facebook too – so get sharing (please!). Charity with the most votes will become the featured beneficiary until end September 2014.

*Windfall donation – This means that each time someone shops online but doesn’t log in to their Giver account (either on purpose or accidentally) the free “Windfall donation” which is created gets given to our featured beneficiary.

We would like your help – who should be our next featured beneficiary?

Our featured beneficiary – currently the fab Kids Run Free - is the lucky recipient of what we call “Windfall donations”.  This means that each time someone shops online but doesn’t log in to their Giver account (either on purpose or accidentally) the free “Windfall donation” which is created gets allocated to our featured beneficiary.

This is where you come in!  We now need help in choosing the next featured beneficiary and would like you to vote (either here, on this post, or on our Facebook Page). Your simple comment – naming your favourite charity – can earn them £100-£150+ – just by people like you shopping online and giving for free – it couldn’t be simpler!

So who are the lucky 3 this time? It is always a difficult choice as there are so many deserving causes, but this time we’ve narrowed it down to:- Read more
