Welcome to Giving Africa - an amazing and unique charity which provides learning opportunities for us here in the UK and also for deprived children in Africa We at Giving Africa, have chosen to build schools in a country called Burkina Faso. For us this is the most amazing place. Burkina has huge challenges everywhere you look. This is economically, financially, environmentally, with education, severe climatic challenges being sub-Saharan, and with severe health issues and food security problems. Burkina Faso is also known by its short-form name Burkina one of its challenges is it is a land locked country, and this is said to be a disadvantage because in order to get out of poverty it helps to have your own coast line, so you can fish for food and be independent to trade with the rest of the world by using sea freight and so open up trade globally. Burkina is surrounded by six other countries Mali to the north, Niger to the east, Benin to the Southeast, Togo and Ghana to the south, and the Ivory coast to the southwest. There is a staggering average quoted that 300,000 children die every year in Burkina Faso. This is the least literate country in the world. We are now convinced that there is a direct correlation between education and getting out of poverty. This is why it is so critical that we build great schools in Burkina Faso. For every one child educated they can get a job or start a business and will then help their family out of poverty. With all of us pulling together with this country we will save thousands of lives and create great futures and do our bit to eradicate poverty once and for all!!
