Recognised internationally for its vision, dedication and excellence, The Donkey Sanctuary provides sanctuary for life to abandoned and mistreated donkeys and mules and raises awareness of equine welfare problems in 27 countries worldwide implementing solutions through community education and veterinary work. In 2012, it was the first UK charity ever to receive the Carole Noon Award for Sanctuary Excellence by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
The Donkey Sanctuary runs six centres in UK to provide Donkey Assisted Therapy (DAT) for children and adults with additional needs, providing over 46,000 treatments in 2012 alone. The DAT centres are in Belfast, Birmingham, Ivybridge, Leeds, Manchester, and Sidmouth, Devon.
Around 5500 donkeys have a permanent home in the charity's sanctuaries across Europe with another 1500 in foster homes. The Donkey Sanctuary's headquarters are in Sidmouth where 200 donkeys live. Do visit: it's open to the public all year.
Yes, I am a UK tax payer and am happy for my donations to be gift aided.
The legal bit: You must be a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital
Gains
Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations across all
Charities,
it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
TheGivingMachine reclaims 25p for every £1 you donate from the tax you pay for the current tax year so
we
can give even more away to causes you choose. If you change your name, address or tax status, please do
let us know.
