Westfields is a welcoming school for children aged 7-11 years. Set in an attractive 45 acre shared campus, Westfields Junior School provides excellent educational facilities. We aim to provide children in our care with a positive and friendly learning environment. We encourage children to become confident in their own abilities in order that they develop their skills and realise their potential. We believe that a partnership between children, staff, parents and governors is the key to success. We insist on the highest standards of behaviour and discipline whilst maintaining a friendly and caring environment. The Governors work closely with the school to ensure that children receive the best education possible. Our core values of teamwork, creativity and independence underpin all that we do in preparing children to become productive, sociable and happy citizens of the future.
Westfields received an ‘outstanding' Ofsted classification in September 2011. The inspecting team stated that - 'This is an outstanding school. Pupils make excellent progress in their work....'
As part of our commitment to developing healthy lifestyles, sport plays a key part in school life. There is an extensive range of opportunities both within and additional to the curriculum. The children have won a number of awards in local, County and regional events.
Our new multi-purpose community facilities ‘Active Rooms' have recently been opened. The Active Rooms provide an excellent base for sporting, craft and many other clubs. There a range of rooms, outdoor space, toilet, changing and shower facilities and other meeting/small rooms.
Creativity is further enhanced in a focus on performing arts with music being particularly high profile. Our impressive Choir has been selected to sing at venues across the country including the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. All children in Year 6 give their final performance of song and dance on stage at Camberley Theatre.
Westfields is recognised as an excellent school for the strength in developing Information Technology. This has been validated through the achievement of national awards and recommendations. The launch of our radio station in September– S'Cool Radio, further emphasises the development of ICT at Westfields. Children use the radio station for a variety of activities including interviewing visitors and playing music to the whole school first thing in the morning and at break times.
