We are pleased to announce that Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is TheGivingMachine’s featured cause for January. This means all windfall donations made by givers that do not log on to their account when shopping via TheGivingMachine, will go to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS); providing a free life-saving service to Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. Our aim is to save lives, reduce or prevent disability, or suffering from critical illness and injury. Specialist Pre-Hospital Care Doctors and Critical Care Paramedics can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment and the patient, following assessment, will be flown to an appropriate hospital.

The Charity was established and began fundraising in 1997 – we have just celebrated 20 years of saving lives. We operate out of two Airbases, Earls Colne and North Weald. Our fleet consists of two helicopters and four Rapid Response Vehicles, split over the two bases. It costs in the region of £500,000 per month to keep both helicopters flying and cover all charitable costs. It is thanks to the generous people of Essex and Hertfordshire who play our Lottery, make a donation, enjoys our events, fundraises and volunteers in aid of EHAAT, that we can ensure that the service continues to fly into the future. Thanks to our supporters, we have been able to welcome our first purchased helicopter, the Agusta Westland 169 to the fleet.

Without access to National Lottery funding and with limited support from Government, we continue to rely upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Essex and Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives – working together funded by you!
