Pet Food Bank Service – Feature Cause January 2020

The Pet Food Bank Service operates weekly pet food bank sessions in Cardiff.

They are passionate about pets and have worked in animal rescue for many years and understand that sometimes people can suffer a financial crisis, so they are here to try and make a difference. They believe every pet should stay with their family and not in animal rescue centers through no fault of their own.

The Pet Food Bank Service collects donated pet food from members of the public and large companies, so they can distribute it to those who need it. Enabling them to do their bit for the environment by redistributing unwanted pet food that might have ended up in landfill.

The service helps people aged 50 and over, homeless or in receipt of a human food bank vouchers – they always try to help where we can.

They are currently raising funds for project mobilization. Project Mobilization will enable the Pet Food Bank service to reach all communities within the South Wales area as well as allowing them to do pre-advertised pop up events,  attend community events to raise awareness of our availability to those who need our help and raise vital funds to continue their services. A van with a side awning would enable them to defeat the wonderful Welsh weather, ensuring they reach those most in need come rain or shine. Their outreach would begin immediately upon purchasing a van.

We believe no pet should go hungry, nor should their owners go without food to provide their pets with food. We also strive to ensure that no pets are surrendered to an animal shelter due to poverty.
