Recycle with Evans

Evans have teamed up with United Shoe and Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to create Recycle with Evans.

The new recycling initiative aims to collect over 2,000 pairs of shoes that will be used to create jobs in developing countries and raise money for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity who support families with a terminally ill child.

Recycle your shoes for charity

To take part in this campaign, simply take along an old or unwanted pair of shoes to any Evans stand-alone or Evans Tesco store until 27th August 2016 and as a thank you, you will receive £30 worth of discounts to spend in store or online  on your new season wardrobe.

All shoes donated in stores within the UK are given to United Shoe who will then ship the shoes to Evans sister company Assess International in UAE for sorting and grading.  They are then sent on to Ghana, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Togo, Benin, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Chile to be re-used.

Every single pair of shoes is re-used and there is no wastage.

These shoes will provide economic opportunities for traders in the above countries to obtain a regular income, enabling them to feed, clothe and educate their children.

Every penny raised from these unwanted or unloved shoes helps supports families with a seriously ill child.

Who is Rainbow Trust?

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity supports families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. For these families, life is unthinkably tough as they struggle to cope with the emotional and practical demands of caring for a very sick child. Rainbow Trust has nine teams of Family Support Workers providing support to over 2,000 families, in their homes, at the hospital and in the community.  The support takes many forms with the sole purpose of making life just a little bit easier.  Because of Rainbow Trust, families are better able to cope and can face the future, whatever it may hold.

Who are United Shoe?

United Shoe is dedicated shoe recycling company who offer a specialised collection and recycling service. They arrange for all the shoes donated to be recycled in developing countries for either reuse or re-sold which creates jobs locally within these countries.  100% of all the shoes can be recycled.  Based on the weight of the shoes donated – United Shoes will make a donation to Rainbow Trust on behalf of Evans.  They will donate 40p for every 1kg of shoes donated.
