Amazon have announced that they will be winding down AmazonSmile by the 20th February 2023. AmazonSmile was launched in 2013 to make it easier for customers to support their chosen charities while shopping online with Amazon. Unfortunately, AmazonSmile has
not made the impact Amazon had hoped. Amazon donates 0.5% of a customer’s net purchase price to charity through AmazonSmile but the high number of charities eligible (over 1 million globally) meant that Amazon felt their impact was spread too thin.
So what does this mean for the customers shopping and wanting to raise donations for their chosen charities and the charities missing out on these donations? That is were TheGivingMachine can help! As a charity ourselves, we support thousands of other charities, schools, community groups and social enterprises by enabling their supporters to raise free donations for them when they shop online. When signed up to TheGivingMachine platform, supporters can install our free Shop&Give Reminder tool to their desktop or laptop. This ensures that if you forget to shop via us (on your desktop or laptop), your shopping will still register for a free donation. We also have mobile apps for when you are shopping on the go.
All the donations raised from shopping at Amazon are added to our Community GiveBack Campaign, helping us give back more.
