Fundraising for Autism All Stars

Since 2012 the Autism All Stars Foundation has raised valuable donations through TheGivingMachine. The founder of this great Charity, Helen Wallace-Iles, is the mother of four truly wonderful children – all unique, all inspirational and all on different parts of the autism spectrum.

The importance of early diagnosis and help

Autism All Stars was founded following the suicide of her son Dominic’s best friend at the age of fourteen. His friend was an amazing boy – utterly unique and totally irreplaceable. He had many of the symptoms of autism but was never formally diagnosed.

By its nature autism is a socially and emotionally isolating condition. Often when people don’t understand themselves or understand anything about autism, they can become isolated. They are more likely to suffer with depression resulting in a high rate of suicide amongst teenage autistic boys.

Positive Messages

At Autism All Stars they concentrate on spreading a positive message about autism that celebrates and includes everyone, regardless of their abilities. Everything they do is designed to raise the self-esteem of everyone involved. No matter how profoundly autism affects someone, everyone deserves the chance to shine in their own way.

“We celebrate people’s differences and aim to help others do the same.”

Different Values

Through their work people will recognise their different values, however strange they appear to be and allow autistic people to contribute to a world that has so often written them off or overlooked them entirely in the past.

Now Helen’s son Dominic is the Chairman of the Charity and he graduated from Cardiff University with an Honours Degree in Law and Politics. It is a tribute to every SEN teacher who believed in him and to every friend who’s accepted him for who he is. Dominic simply refuses to see the boundaries other people set for him and shows that anything is possible.

How does TheGivingMachine help Autism All Stars?

‘The Giving Machine is the easiest way to raise funds that we’ve ever found. The reminder that pops up when you’re shopping on one of their partner sites makes it so straightforward, and it’s a lovely feeling to think that your everyday shopping is making a genuine difference to the lives of people living with autism. Thank you SO much for everything you do for us!’ – Helen Wallace-Iles
