No One Should Face Ovarian Cancer Alone: How Playing The GivingLottery Supports Ovacome
Every year, thousands of people across the UK receive an ovarian cancer diagnosis. In that moment, alongside the medical questions, comes something just as frightening, the fear of facing it alone.
That's where Ovacome comes in.
Who is Ovacome?
Ovacome is the UK's national ovarian cancer charity, dedicated to providing support and information to anyone affected by ovarian cancer. That means people who have been diagnosed, those who think they might be at risk, and the friends, family, and healthcare professionals who support them too.
Ovacome is a strong community of many thousands of people, all working towards one goal: reducing isolation, sharing information, and supporting anyone touched by ovarian cancer.
The Difference Ovacome Makes
Every year, Ovacome provides direct support to over 6,500 people through its support line and events, while nearly 80,000 people access its expert information materials.
In the past year alone, Ovacome has:
- Answered 2,100 calls to its support line
- Sent out 18,708 information booklets
- Trained 2,689 healthcare professionals
Their services include:
- A telephone, email, and instant chat support line
- A 24-hour online forum
- Regional support and information events
- An online programme of support groups
- Expert information resources to support people through treatment and beyond
- Contributions to the development of new policy and research on ovarian cancer
Ovacome also runs the UK's Survivors Teaching Students programme, educating student nurses, doctors, and specialists on the signs, symptoms, and lived experience of ovarian cancer, as the European representatives of a programme that began in the United States.
Ovacome campaigns to help people and health professionals recognise the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, and for high quality care and treatment to be available to all. But Ovacome is not a campaign group or a research charity, it maintains a clear focus on support. Whether anonymously or face to face, Ovacome is there to support people in their times of need, committed to doing so in as many ways as possible.
Why They Need Your Help
Ovacome receives no government funding. Every call answered, every booklet sent, every healthcare professional trained, all of it relies on the generosity of supporters like you.
How Our GivingLottery Helps
Since joining our GivingLottery in February 2026, Ovacome has already brought together 46 supporters, and so far they are on track to raise £1,850 so far in their first year, funds that go directly towards keeping their vital services running.
