Successful Community Grant cause
Refugee Action Kingston
Refugee Action have been supporting refugees and people seeking asylum since 1981.
They help people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. They help get them the basic support they need to live again with dignity. Then they help them build safe, happy and productive lives in the UK.
Their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.

Their grant application
When applying for one a £250 Community Grants, Refugee Action Kingston said they believe that with the support of donations like this however small, they are able to help refugees and asylum seekers at their times of hardship. Therefore, they would put the funds towards their hardship fund. Their hardship fund is totally funded through donations and they are always very grateful for any funding that contribute to this fund.
What they spent their grant on
Shamil Sharshek, from Refugee Action Kingston shared with us how the Community Grant was spent.
“The £250 grant went directly into our unrestricted funds, allowing us to enhance a range of vital services for refugees and asylum seekers in our community.
One of the examples is provision of healthy meals at our community hub, directly addressing malnutrition and fostering a supportive environment for our clients.”
Our Community Grants
We are thrilled to provide Refugee Action Kingston with a £250 Community Grant. This unrestricted grant has enabled them to make improvements to the services they offer to those really in need.
It is great for us to see the impact our Community Grants are making to those in our communities.
Each quarter, we offer 8 x £250 unrestricted Community Grants to UK-based good causes. If you are a good cause who would like to apply for one of these unrestricted grants, visit our Community Grants page for more information.
